NORTH COUNTRY FARM TO SCHOOL NEWS

Site Visit: Lancaster Elementary School

On Monday, April 21, Heather Eich and Missy DeRivera of Lancaster Elementary School highlighted the outdoor and BioShelter experiences available to their middle school students. These opportunities are made possible through the school’s partnership with several incredible organizations, including the Neil and Louise Tillotson Foundation, ReTreeUs, Taproot, Coös County UNH Extension, the University of New Hampshire, the NH Fish and Game Department, as well as various NH Department of Education grants.

Highlights of the day included sharing the vision for their school orchard, exploring their collaborations with TapRoot and ReTreeUs, demonstrations of fruit tree pruning and grafting techniques, and showcasing the many enriching experiences students can enjoy.

It was great to have staff members from Sunnybrook Montessori School and Heartwood Public Charter School join in to learn more about what makes Lancaster School thrive!
