USDA 2024 Farm to School Grant project awarded! Belknap County Conservation District, Laconia
The Belknap County Conservation District will hire a Lakes Region Farm to School Coordinator to support development of four Farm to School Action Plans in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region with a two-tier approach: 1) three school district Farm to School Action Plans to better connect rural schools to local farms, address child food insecurity and serve as an example to other Districts. The Gilford, Laconia, and Winnisquam School Districts volunteered to serve as leaders in this effort; and 2) a Lakes Region Farm to School Network Action Plan focused on information sharing region-wide and support to development of the three school district Action Plans. The Belknap County Conservation District will lead this project working with the Lakes Region Farm to School Network and the three school districts. All these school districts have Child Nutrition Programs.
