Culturally Connected Cafeterias in Manchester Schools
We are proud to announce that NH Farm to School and the NH Food Alliance have been awarded a 2024 New England Food Vision Prize from the Henry P. Kendall Foundation.
We were awarded $85,894 to embark on a two-year project developing culturally connected school meals and increasing local sourcing in the Manchester School District by training school food service staff, engaging with students as meal ambassadors, and building relationships with two food hubs. Throughout the project, we will partner with the Manchester School Food Service Department, the NH Food Alliance, Food Connects, and Fresh Start Farms, a program of the Organization for Refugee and Immigrant Success (ORIS).
Check back to this page for updates as we start planning for the project’s launch. If you have questions about the project, please reach out to Stacey Purslow, the NH Farm to School program coordinator at stacey.purslow@unh.edu.
About the New England Food Vision Prize
Launched by the Henry P. Kendall Foundation in 2018, the New England Food Vision Prize Program aims to increase the amount of local and regional food prepared and served on New England college and university campuses and within K-12 public school districts, helping to strengthen the region’s food system. The Prize program, now in its fifth year, awards grants up to $200,000 to winning teams. Prizes are awarded to projects that build resilience, relationships, and capacity within New England’s academic institutional food supply chain, resulting in increased preparation, sourcing, serving, or use and consumption of local and regional food at K-12 schools and higher education institutions.
